Lead printers mark in the pathway to new library

UChicago Libraries has launched a news website, where you can learn about the largest digital collection of medieval Latin sacred poetry, the library of Alexandria, or the first-floor café coming to the Regenstein this summer. Topics covered range from new acquisitions and featured electronic resources, to teaching and learning at the library, to the latest renovations and the making of Mansueto.

In celebration of the opening of the Joe and Rika Mansueto Library later this spring, Nancy Spiegel, the Library’s bibliographer for art and cinema, is writing a series of posts about the history of libraries and library architecture. In addition to information on the early libraries in the Islamic world and Michelangelo’s 1525 design of the library in the basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence, Spiegel directs readers to available texts on these subjects in the Library’s collections. To read this series visit the Humanities and Social Science News portion of the website here.
