redchaircasual(sm)The University of Chicago Presents is excited to welcome back 2009 Grammy Award winning Pacifica Quartet for a three concert series at Mandel Hall during the 2009-2010 academic year.  Pacifica Quartet is recognized internationally for their high energy, diverse musical choices, and superb technique.  They will be performing the works of composers including Shubert, Puccini, and Beethoven to celebrate their eleventh year as an Ensemble in Residence with the University of Chicago’s Department of Music.

Pacifica Quartet has also been featured in The New York Times following their appointment as only the second quartet in residence in the history of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.  Hilde Limondjian, the curator of the museum’s concerts since 1969, recounts the first time she saw Pacifica Quartet in concert: “I was transported, and after all these years it doesn’t happen all the time.  When it happens it is so strong, so unforgettable, unmistakable. . .They had put me into a whole different space. I decided I had to have them for the series.”
